Mary Hickman is a caroling institution outside the Orange Street Food Farm in Missoula. When this longtime Salvation Army bell-ringer was reassigned to a different store, people missed her. Her boss, recognizing a rapt audience when he sees one, asked her to go back to the place of her familiar. Every holiday season, Mary’s there, with her binder of about 70 handwritten carol lyrics — everything from the traditional to the silly to the religious. She’s happy for you to join in.
