Jacob and Benjamin Cronin grew up in Helena with the same parents in the same church. Turns out, both of them like boys. But Jacob, who’s older and came out first, got sent to conversion therapy — that’s where a counselor tries to convince a gay person he’s straight — and Ben didn’t have to go. Jacob’s counselor pulled out all the Sodom and Gomorrah stuff and “that shit freaked me out,” Jacob tells radio producer Cheri Trusler. Cheri, who met Jacob when both were in the UM Marching Band, recorded this two-voicer of the brothers telling their coming-out stories in spring 2015.
